Rs. one crore ($ 1,70,000) project envisages construction of a
building and equipping it with ultra-modern, sophisticated equipment
to carry out original research in audiology, speech therapy, modes
of deaf communication, medium of deaf instruction and training
in modern technologies like Information Technology, Electronics,

own is to be set up. It can be used for training as well.
The building construction, has been suspended due to dispute with
the contractor and shortage of Fund. Efforts are under way to
resolve the dispute and resume construction.
When functional, it will be the only one of its kind in the country
and meet the educational and training needs of over a hundred

Coming
up in a pollution free Institutional Area in New Delhi, with a
carpet area of over 8000 sq. ft., the Centre will be an integrated,
ultramodern, one of its kind institution in Asia. The idea is
to ultimately make it the Gallaudet university of the East.

Modes of deaf education/communications
In
order to rehabilitate the deaf in some gainful employment, Association
had set up some rehabilitation ventures which were exclusively
manned and managed by deaf people.
One of these ventures, which still exists, is Mook Preeti, a shop
inaugurated by late Shri Y.B. Chavan, then Union Home Minister
of India. Located at 6-B Yashwant Place, Chanakya Puri, it employs
three deaf persons. It deals in photo goods, photography, photocopying
etc. and though chronically in the red, it has some how survived
so far. If sufficient capital is available for investment, because
of its ideal location in area frequented by Diplomatic Corp, it
can achieve phenomenal growth.
