PRESIDENT REPUBLIC OF INDIA

MESSAGE
It gives me immense pleasure that the Delhi Association of the Deaf is organizing a national seminar on "Improving Linguistic Skills of the Deaf for Enhanced Employment" to commemorate its Golden Jubilee from October 2-4, 2002.
The Seminar, I am confident, will be a step in further strengthening the various aspects of education, training and rehabilitation of those shuffering from Deafness. There is a need for sensitizing society about the needs of impaired people so that they can live and lead their lives with dignity and self-reliance.
I extend my greetings and felicitations to the committed team of the Association for undertaking activities for the benefit of physically challenged.

PRIME MINISTER OF INDIA

MESSAGE

I am pleased to learn that the Delhi Association of .the Deaf has completed more than half a century of dedicated service to the hearing handicapped.
Rehabilitation of the disabled entails a multi-pronged approach in which the development of their creative faculties often takes a back seat. Your efforts to encourage creative pursuits among the hearing handicapped therefore deserve special commendation. Our task of integrating the disabled into the mainstream and improving access to opportunities for their economic, educational and social advancement can only be accomplished by the active participation of organizations such as yours.
I extend my best wishes to the Delhi Association of the Deaf.

DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER OF INDIA

MESSAGE
I am happy to know that Delhi Association of the Deaf is celebrating its golden jubilee from October 2-4, 2002 and a Souvenir is being published to mark the occasion.
I commend the initiative taken by Delhi Association of the Deaf to supplement the Government's efforts towards the welfare of the hearing impaired persons. I am sure the consolidated information regarding service providers, available cures and rehabilitation measures will prove to be immensely useful to the concerned persons, Ten years ago, I had an occasion to be the Chief Guest at the Association's Forty Second Anniversary Celebrations. I was impressed by the zeal and determination of these people, who even in the face of their twin inherent disabilities of speech and hearing impairment, were working resolutely to become self-reliant, self-supporting and productive citizens.
I convey my best wishes for the celebration of golden jubilee of the Association and successful publication of the Souvenir.

MINISTER OF STATE FOR COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY OF INDIA

MESSAGE
I am happy to know that Delhi Association of the Deaf is celebrating its Golden Jubilee from 2nd to 4th October 2002 and is also organizing a three day National Seminar on "Improving Linguistic Skills of the Deaf for Enhanced Employment".

Knowledge of language is a basic human requirement and all the activities -social, cultural, political, economic, religious, etc., can only be conducted with the help of spoken/written language and to deny knowledge of language to human beings is denial of their human rights. I am therefore, happy that as a part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations, Association is focusing attention on this all important subject. I hope, some constructive suggestions will emerge from the delebrations which will be implemented in due course.

I am happy that Association has given me an opportunity to serve my less fortunate but equally important deaf brothers and sisters in the capacity of Chairman. It shall be my constant endeavour to advance the cause of the deaf people.

I wish the celebrations all success.
