Sports Promotion

Association has always believed in the concept of 'Healthy mind in Healthy body' and, therefore, since its very inception, utmost emphasis is being placed on games and sports which are regularly organized on Sundays and holidays. State level championships are also held. When some normal hearing persons hi-jacked the sports programmes of the deaf by forming All India Sports Association of the Deaf and getting it affiliated with Committee International Sports Silentique (CISS), Association took the lead to form All India Sports Council of the Deaf in the year 1965 and helped it obtain Government recognition and affiliation with CISS.

Association has been regularly organizing annual sports meets and championships in different games and has an outstanding record for participating in the National Games and Championships of the deaf. We hosted XIV National games of the Deaf which were inaugurated by Shri P. Narasimha Rao then Prime Minister of India.

As recently as 7th Feb 2004 association organized 32nd Delhi Games of the Deaf at the precious Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium where in over 400 deaf athletes participated.

One of its members, Shri Satish Kumar Arora, is the winner of the prestigious Arjuna Award, given to ace sports persons of national/international levels.
